In the wake of recent hurricanes, Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay (RTTB) has been on the front lines of disaster recovery, providing essential roof tarping and mucking & gutting services to homeowners impacted by the storms. These services are crucial for preventing further damage to homes and ensuring that families can begin the process of rebuilding safely.
Roof Tarping is one of the first steps taken by RTTB’s Disaster Readiness and Recovery Program, as it helps protect homes from additional water damage and keeps out pests. By covering damaged roofs, RTTB is helping to stabilize homes until more permanent repairs can be made. Mucking and gutting follow soon after power is restored and debris is cleared, with RTTB teams removing water-damaged drywall, wet insulation, and moldy materials from homes. This process is vital for preventing mold growth and preparing homes for rebuilding.
These efforts are currently focused on the hardest-hit areas, where many low-income families have been left vulnerable after the storms. Through roof tarping and mucking & gutting, RTTB is helping restore safety and stability for homeowners, ensuring that recovery is not just about rebuilding houses, but also about bringing back a sense of normalcy and security to the community.
With volunteers, skilled workers, and community partners on hand, Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay continues to make significant strides in hurricane recovery, one home at a time.
