  • Munro House

On January 15th, 2010 the dream of becoming homeowner was reality for Maria Peas when she bought the first foreclosure property rehabbed by Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay. The house located in Tampa Heights was donated by JP Morgan Chase in September of 2009. For two month over 100 volunteers and trade professionals contributed their time and labor to make the necessary repairs in the house and make it available to a First Time Homebuyer. The house was loaded with new appliances, light fixtures, heating and A/c unit, door, window blinds, new landscaping and fresh paint. Munro Street is a pilot project approved by the Board of Directors to explore and evaluate RTTB’s contribution and future commitment to the Neighborhood Stabilization Program and its model. The property was generously donated through the Chase Community Revitalization program. It took about eight weeks to complete renovations in the house. As result of such a successful project, the Board of Directors is considering other properties in order to increase affordable homeownership in the Tampa Bay area. This would make a positive impact in the communities and neighborhoods we serve, generate job opportunities among trade professional and general contractors, and, support our suppliers while securing additional funding to expand RTTB’s residential rehabilitation program to low-income homeowners. In addition to Munro Street, J.P. Morgan Chase has also donated a property that has been appointed by the Board as the future headquarters for RTTB to open in the spring of 2010.
  • John Glymph

Mr. Glymph retired from Hillsborough County in 1993. He bought the house in 1953 with his wife, who passed away about 10 years ago. It was in this house where they cared for all their children. Mr. Glymph’s house needs repairs in the family room, bathroom and kitchen. He and his only son, living in Tampa, are ready to help in the repairing process. He love dearly his house and wants to stay there until the”…Lord calls me”, as he said to us.
  • Celebrating 10 Years of Repairing the Homes of Those in Need

    Several Homes in Tampa Bay
National Rebuilding Day is the annual signature event of Rebuilding Together, the leading national nonprofit working to preserve affordable homeownership by bringing volunteers and communities together to rehabilitate the homes of low-income homeowners. Held on Saturday April 24, National Rebuilding Day is the day when we celebrate our organization’s mission and to bring attention to the plight of America’s low-income homeowners and the communities in which they live. National Rebuilding Day is the culmination of a year of planning, evaluating, training, organizing, and mobilizing community volunteers. It is embraced by our community leaders and national and local corporate sponsors as a way of bringing immediate impact to America’s communities in a single day. On National Rebuilding Day RTTB volunteers join affiliates nationawide to repair and restore houses and non-profit facilities, revitalizing entire communities and making a lasting impression on the families who are served. For many volunteers, it leaves them with the experiences of helping their neighbors in need, which brings them back year after year. Over the years, National Rebuilding Day has created the momentum from which Rebuilding Together has grown to the stature it enjoys today as a leading organization in the quest to preserve affordable housing for low-income Americans. Our goal for this year’s National Rebuild Day is to complete 15 projects in the Tampa Bay area. Homes in throughout the City of Tampa and City of St. Petersburg will become safer, healthier and more energy efficient with the support of several corporations and by engaging over 400 volunteers.
