Wells Fargo Home Mortgage Foundation Gives Back to the Community for the Holidays

On Saturday December 19, 2009 employees from The Wells Fargo Home Mortgage (WFHM) volunteered at the home of Lunay Flores-Johnson in Sulphur Springs. Lunay bought her house ten years ago, hoping that her parents live with her and help her to achieve her American Dream. Few months later, her father died, leaving her with the enormous responsibility of keeping her house and taking care for her ill mother. Few years later, she started a new chapter in her life, when she got married and her two beautiful children were born. However, the dream ended soon when she had no other choice than separate from her husband and deal on daily basis with her oldest daughter’s, now five, disabilities, her mother progressive cancer and her four year old son’s speech impediments. The house is in dare need of repairs, her kitchen is not functional at all, furniture and boxes of unused clothes have invaded every space available and the children are only allow to play in a small space that Lunay knows is safe, because she cleans it every day. Making her house livable again will make a huge impact in her live. It will help her to see the light at the end of the tunnel, it will give her children an opportunity to live safer and grow healthier.

Volunteers from Wells Fargo completed work that started about three prior and involved over 100 volunteers. Saturday’s works included paint the interior of the home, clean up and provide landscaping to the front of the house. Financial Support from Wells Fargo Home Mortgage Foundation allowed us to renovate kitchen, living and dining room and one bathroom.

Other local sponsors and participants include; Castillo Construction, NVirotect (Pest Control Services),
