Community Triumph

Building a Healthier West Tampa In-Progress

The Building a Healthier West Tampa initiative will focus on improving living conditions for tenant-occupied homes and repairing owner-occupied homes. Therefore increasing affordable housing opportunities for low-to-moderate income first-time home-buyers, decreasing or eliminating vacant foreclosed properties, and maintaining infill lots to avoid dumping. More specifically,a minimum of 35 homes, during the pilot project, of expecting mothers and/or children 0-8 years old.

We are working together with key stakeholders in order to form collaborations and partnerships, including Argosy University, which lies in the heart of West Tampa, and the Children’s Board to join us on this community revitalization initiative to provide safer, healthier and more energy efficient housing. The focus of this project will be low-income families with children and pregnant women of this historic neighborhood in order to improve their living conditions and create a stronger foundation for their future.
